HOME page) Human spirit, resourcefulness, and resolve are a wonder to behold. Throughout recorded history, they have guided us through many perilous times and circumstances, to arrive at our current human condition. To some, this condition is highly desirable, to others not so desirable, depending on where we live and what we are experiencing. Through this all, one thing remains constant—every one of us is a unique part of the human “family” and in a larger sense, the community of life. Many (and continuing) technological advances have effectively given us the capability to begin to act toward (and interact with) each other in more of a family oriented manner. We are instantly aware of the goings on throughout the world because of our telecommunications and media capabilities while air travel times, available flights, and essentially global flight routes, enable us to travel virtually anywhere very, quickly. This bodes well for having the potential to know each other, to be aware of global conditions, and to respond to and alleviate the suffering caused when the basic human needs of our “family” are not being met. In a very real sense, integrity demands that we finally begin to do whatever it takes to meet such needs where ever they occur. However, when we look closely and objectively, it becomes very clear that our culture has adopted an array of behaviors, thinking, and beliefs that are woefully inconsistent with the integrity of our magnificent universe. Why? Simply because we have not known any better. Our culture’s survival has been so difficult for the past several thousand years, and the knowledge that would allow us to think/act differently [w/integrity] was not apparent so we have essentially remained ignorant, uninformed/misinformed and have proceeded with the “ladder against the wrong wall” seemingly throughout this period of history). Sadly, our resultant misguided activity on earth has placed our well being in unconscionable crisis and peril. Why? Because we have failed to consider life from a comprehensive, “cosmically adequate” perspective and become aware of our extraordinary “option for success.” From such a perspective, R. Buckminster Fuller (who preferred to be called Bucky) concluded, “Jointly, we Earthians have always had adequate physical resources to take care of all humanity but lacked the metaphysical know-how resources with which to employ effectively the Earth’s physical wealth. Adequate know-how could only accrue through trial-and-error experience combined with synergetically acquired wisdom, altogether employed with absolute faith in the intellectual integrity omni-lovingly governing regenerative Universe. However, in 1970 our cornucopia of ever more swiftly accruing know-how over-flowed and its content integrated synergetically, so that we may now care for each Earthian individual at a sustainable billionaire’s level of affluence while living exclusively on less than one percent of our planet’s daily energy income from our cosmically designed nuclear reactor, the Sun, optimally located 92 million safe miles away from us and safely inter linked with us by photosynthesis, wind, rain, wave, and all other weather behaviors.” from Crunch of Giants Four additional quotes collectively epitomize the major reasons that in 2003 we are, in many respects, no closer to R. Buckminster Fuller’s statement being a reality than we were in 1970: Albert Einstein, “The world we have created today as a result of our thinking thus far has problems that cannot be solved by thinking the way we thought when we created them.”; Steven Covey in his book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, “If you put good people in bad systems, you get bad results.”, and “If the ladder is not leaning against the right wall, every step we take just gets us to the wrong place faster.”; and finally, from Matthew 15:14 in the Bible, “And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.” To Bucky, recognized by many as one of history’s most brilliant, compassionate, and comprehensive thinkers and doers, it was exceedingly clear that in order to actualize his 1970 conclusion, humans must make a complete disconnect from conventional wisdom that is mired in self-centeredness, vested interests, conditioning, biases, beliefs, opinions, and the like, and begin at once to rethink everything and essentially, for the first time, start thinking in a “cosmically adequate” manner. To him, such thinking included incessantly asking, “How does nature design?” Because in reality, we, as humans, are simply and solely a part of and subject to the laws of nature--not by choice, that’s just the way it is! This document is Wealth Information Network’s (WIN) attempt to introduce “cosmically adequate” as a paradigm and to discuss its elements and present what we can do to accelerate its actualization. First, here is WIN’s definition/explanation of the term: ‘“Cosmically adequate’ refers to humans orienting everything we say, think, and do, to be totally consistent with the integrity of the laws and principles that govern the universe.” We can observe, define, and use these laws and principles to gain advantage, but have absolutely no influence over their continual or sustainable operation. They hold true in every case and never fail, always intercomplementary, never contradicting each other. For humans to operate in a cosmically adequate manner suggests a very deep understanding of and respect for this universal integrity. Now, here is what WIN feels is an extraordinary opportunity to begin to truly “get into it”.
OVERVIEW When we focus on this operational integrity and come to realize its absoluteness and inherent simplicity, it frees us to express the essential nature of our humanity, without fear, and without any bias whosoever. Why is this important? Because it is the only way to achieve true happiness, peace, fulfillment, and security. Just as with mathematics, the only way to get correct solutions is to follow its rules. Here’s the good news, this essential nature is the same for all humans (yup, all six plus billion of us). From this it follows that for each one of us, our basic human needs are also the same. Essentially every other species only acts within the range of meeting its needs and does so instinctively—none that we are aware of have the “equipment” to make any other decision—or any decisions at all, for that matter—its all according to their inherent nature (operating through instincts) and the specialized senses that allow them to prosper in the environment in which they operate. Humans have a similar yet different situation—we too have inherent qualities and characteristics that make us human (which are not choices) and we have specialized “equipment” that allows us to operate in our environment. It is our minds and our ability to discover and utilize universal principles to gain advantage (leverage) in our environment plus the ability make decisions and choices that make us unique. We can choose to learn and use universal principles in new, innovative, and progressive ways. We can choose to express integrity or choose not to. We can choose to cooperate, to impede, or to be ambivalent. Mankind fits into the universal order of things in a certain way and it is not the way of selfishness or self-indulgence. We are designed differently. We all come into our human experience as a complete package and never have to acquire something from the outside in order to become more human. As we become aware of and more clearly understand this essential nature and begin to think and act differently, more desirable experiences are the natural consequence. To “right our ship”, all of us need to make every decision consistent with the integrity of our essential nature—yup, even if it means stepping back and invalidating whatever we have done or are doing that does not measure up. Is sort of the ultimate humility. Bucky coined the phrase “Spaceship Earth” in the 1950s and is a powerful metaphor for our relationship to our planet. We truly are hurling through space at an astounding rate on our li’l spaceship (spinning on our axis, revolving around the sun, our galaxy in its own orbit). Other than observing the sun daily being revealed and being obscured, our senses give us no clue of this movement. As fellow passengers aboard Spaceship Earth, we are all dependent on its resources and are interdependent, interconnected, and interrelated—not by choice, but by “design.” Technologically humans have made significant progress. We grow lots of food, generate lots of usable energy, build impressive structures with modern conveniences, communicate instantaneously around the world, are able to travel rapidly to distant locations, have eradicated many serious diseases, can keep living conditions sanitary, know lots more about our physical universe than ever before, have increased life spans, and are much more literate. Yet human life is no more secure and the universe has not changed because of our progress and being able to define what is occurring, scientifically and mathematically. There is more to learn—let us take a different thrust by first taking an objective assessment of the “current reality” on board Spaceship Earth: WHERE
ARE WE • Environmental degradation, resulting in: • Depleting our magnificent and abundant, yet finite, resources • Pollution • Urban sprawl: • Displaces crop land • Alters natural balance • Habitat destruction • Destroys natural/ecological habitat Us vs. them paradigm produces: • Separation from each other through: • Nationality • Religion • Gender • Politics • Education • Occupation • Age • Etc. • Competition orientation that results in: • Winners • Losers • Aggression • Manipulation Corporate exploitation tolerating: • Sweatshops • Child labor • Inhumane practices • Profit maximization at expense of social justice Proclivity toward instant gratification evidenced by: • The “fast food” we often eat • Amusement/entertainment sensory titillation • Buy now, pay later Erosion of moral and ethical values: • Family unit weakening through high divorce rates • Legalized gambling • Rampant insecurity seen in: • Alcoholism • Recreational drug use • Attempts to gain identity/status through possessions and/or life style • Litigious society • Lawsuits often abound for frivolous matters • Human rights atrocities such as: • Repressive governments • Biased trade policies • Extremist views • Excessive consumerism encouraging: • Greed • Selfishness • Self indulgence • Basic needs disparity manifest through: • Inadequate housing • Energy shortage • Quality water unavailable • Starvation • Inadequate sanitation • Inadequate health care • Low self esteem • Criminalization creates: • Unbalanced society causes certain segments to be more vulnerable • Young people of color • Poor • Oppressed • Disadvantaged • Prison system driven by economics instead of reform or prevention • Often unreasonable/unnecessary sentences • Profiling can lead to cyclical incarcerations • Flawed systems in desperate need of reform: • Economics • Education • Government • Religion
WHY WE ARE WHERE WE ARE There tends to continually be many distractions that divert attention away from intently considering the cause of our problems and what to do about them. Survival, within our human systems, consumes an inordinate amount of most peoples’ time and energy. Additionally, appearances of the way things are, not facts/accuracy about how they are, contribute to our being “out of sync” with the universe. One of the most serious appearances is the one that suggests that the problems are so massive and entrenched that “we the people” are powerless to do anything about them and solutions are best left up to the “power structure.” And it is important to note that it is not our fault, as individuals, that we have been taught/learned/experienced the “wrong” information. The human approach has been to treat the symptoms of our shortcomings instead of correcting the thinking/acting that is the cause. Thereby, while making progress, perhaps technologically or in superfluous ways, we generally remain oriented to inadequate perceptions of the world and bogged down by the weight of misconception. WHAT
WE CAN DO ABOUT IT It is likely that most everyone has observed the large cabinet off the street, or in office buildings, the room, that telephone lines come into from the telephone company. The big cable comes in and is connected to the individual wires that then go to individual homes or offices. There can be hundreds, even thousands of wires that when connected properly, all work perfectly. Picture a villain coming in and pulling all the wires off their connecting posts so that nothing works. In this scenario, if someone arbitrarily began reattaching wires, it is doubtful that any would be connected correctly, though they would be connected. But, when they are reconnected correctly by one who knows how to do it, the system again works perfectly. Great news!! In a human sense, WIN, through its primary educational concept, Principal Aligned Living (PAL), has created the tools and systems that enable it to know precisely how to reconnect the wires correctly, so humans can begin to operate with greater integrity. Even more great news! Humans, similarly begin human existence at birth, being complete and pure with all our qualities of our humanity intact (“wired” and connected properly), and through our environment, experience, and upbringing, many of our “wires” have been disconnected and reconnected improperly so that we a re not functioning consistent with the integrity that was (and is) our “birth right.” Understanding, embracing, and actualizing PAL will accomplish the reconnect to our “natural” state and allow us to optimize peace, happiness, fulfillment, and security in our lives. Perhaps we see the items listed the above “Where We Are” section as unrelated when, in truth, they are explicitly interrelated and interconnected. Such a misconception prohibits us from seeing the comprehensive picture that would enable us to break out of the miasma that appears to validate being oriented to selfish pursuits, individualism, self-determination, and the myriad of such positions. To the extent that we exclusively focus on ourselves and our own well being, we will continue to justify the suffering, misery, and pain which we and our fellow passengers on Spaceship Earth experience in much of the world. But let’s give you more good news! To the extent that we earnestly start truly caring about and understand each other, we will become intolerant of these untoward conditions and begin to do something about them. Correction and action begin in the minutiae of our lives. Its paying attention to the little things that will get us started. As we remain disciplined and diligent—committed to the pursuit—momentum builds, finally attaining critical mass, much like the snowball rolling down a fresh snow covered hill. Seeing the good in others, being more patient and tolerant or simply practicing “random acts of kindness,” are “little things” that could create the impetus to tackle more difficult issues. One of the most significant decisions on the path to “cosmically adequate thinking,” is to begin to seriously, sincerely, and humbly rethink everything we know. We must unlearn those things that have no integrity and learn a great deal about the principles and laws that govern the universe and begin to understand our relationship to each other and to the universe. There is simply no other way. Otherwise, the progress that we seem to be making merely makes us more comfortable in the ditch. So, how do we do it? Here is a three step process: First, find a teacher who can teach and/or mentor us and sustainable support our pursuit. Then come together in groups to rethink, unlearn, and relearn, recognizing the vested interest we all have in making it work for everyone. Finally, begin to seriously think about, experience, and become empowered through the following list of paradigms: One: Always operate from INTEGRITY Two: Generate TRUE WEALTH Three: Recognize ABUNDANCE Four: Focus on You-AND-Me Five: Do MORE with LESS Six: Engage only in SUSTAINABILITY Seven: Orient to and expect HEALING Doing so will naturally lead to the “newforming” of the flawed systems that are ostensibly intended to serve us all, because we will clearly and objectively see what has integrity and what does not have integrity. When we earnestly begin such a pursuit, we will enter a transition mode, not expecting quantum leaps forward, but systematically, consistently weaning ourselves away from undesirable patterns into more desirable ways of thinking and acting. All of the above paradigms deserve thorough explanation and exploration, which is essentially beyond the scope and intent of this essay. It seems appropriate to expand a bit on one, True Wealth. Following is WIN’s definition and outline of its perspective on what True Wealth includes:
TRUE WEALTH
ESSENTIAL ORIENTATIONS
WIN’S VISION What we are talking about is pure design revolution that benefits all humanity and injures no one, so once understanding is gained and systems/programs designed properly to allow persons to enter the transition phase with little effort or radical lifestyle change, resistance should be minimal. Its simplicity, purity, and power are the natural consequence of humans thinking and acting in a cosmically adequate manner which results in meeting human needs, instead of lives full of selfish pursuits and indulgences. Here are: TWELVE INITIAL
STEPS Step I. COMMIT Step II. CLEARLY UNDERSTAND
WHERE WE ARE Step III. UNDERSTAND WHY WE
ARE WHERE WE ARE Step IV. RECOGNIZE THAT THE UNIVERSE IS GOVERNED BY THE INTEGRITY OF
UNIVERSAL PRINCIPLES/LAWS/TRUTHS Step V. UNDERSTAND THE
ESSENTIAL NATURE OF BEING HUMAN Step VI. UNDERSTAND OUR
RELATIONSHIP TO EACH OTHER Step VII. UNDERSTAND OUR
RELATIONSHIP TO THE UNIVERSE Nothing that nature “accomplishes” is difficult, it all happens naturally, effortlessly, and spontaneously, with incredible precision, with everything being interconnected. A gorgeous, inspiring rainbow just happens because of how sunlight refracts through water droplets, and humans do not need to learn to appreciate rainbows and be in awe of their beauty. So it is with human experience, when conditions are right, harmony, balance, beauty, and peace spontaneously/enthusiastically happen. Step VIII. MAKE A COMPLETE
DISCONNECT FROM ANYTHING UNALIGNED Step IX. SATURATE YOURSELF
WITH “COSMICALLY ADEQUATE” THINKING Step X. CONTINUALLY RETHINK
EVERYTHING This takes commitment and discipline, but is one of the healthiest actions one can choose to pursue. It is rethinking and examining everything we say, think, and do to determine whether or not it conforms to “cosmic integrity,” and if not, we simply cannot do it and maintain our natural relationship to the universe. As one conducts his/her life within this context, one sequentially and continually moves away from the fear and insecurity of feeling that there is not enough to go around and that we must work and/or struggle to get our fair share, before someone else gets it—unintentionally opening the way for separateness, exploitation, privilege and abject selfishness, instead of moving into increasing feelings of being connected to something wonderfully secure and fulfilling, that naturally results in lives continually working better. XI. RELENTLESSLY ASK, “DO WE
NEED TO DO MORE OF “THIS” IN ORDER FOR HUMANITY TO REALIZE ITS OPTION FOR
SUCCESS?” and “WHAT MAKES . . . TRUE?” Step XII. THINK/ACT/INSPIRE
COLLECTIVELY An Overview of the WIN/WIN Association The WIN/WIN Association is one place to find the comprehensive information, tools, resources, strategies, and extensive support system to assist one in embarking on and continuing on the critical path to Principle Aligned Living. While we are engaging the above twelve critical perspectives, WIN/WIN Association members will have the opportunity to come together in groups called Network Empowerment Teams (NETs) that will be structured very favorable to pursue personally and economically empowering activities. Resources, experience, creativity, support, and other critical elements will come together synergetically to create highly desirable and rewarding results from starting, joint venturing (with WIN or other NETs [or a group of NETs]), or otherwise supporting a variety of enterprises focusing on creating “true wealth.” WIN will develop prototypes and support for an ever increasing number of enterprises that NETs can be involved with that can be replicated all over the world. The first two being considered are a community oriented restaurant focusing on local cuisine, entertainment, and food sources, growing some of it on site; and a recycled/natural products store that offers a wide variety of items that are manufactured in a sustainable manner with no (or minimal harmful/negative) environmental impact. There will be WIN Enterprises that begin because of WIN and WIN Affiliate enterprises that already exist and become affiliated with WIN in a manner that is advantageous for both the affiliate and WIN/WIN Association members (and movement toward cosmically adequate results). All WIN Enterprises will be joint ventures among one or more NET and/or one or more NET/WIN/WIN Association members, becoming a powerful financial asset and safety net. Shared ownership is a paradigm that will be encouraged whenever practical. The leverage generated by shared ownership is substantial—giving participants a vested interest in the activity and being involved in something fun and rewarding. Plus, such an approach spreads whatever risk in involved and is another orientation to you-AND-me. WIN/WIN Association members will be mentored on a continuing basis by the book Operating Manual for Principal Aligned Living and the Principal Aligned Living Workshop. These will be vehicles for extensive education about “Cosmically Adequate” thinking and acting. The programs, strategies, and engaging, ongoing support system provided by WIN will give members and NETs plenty of opportunity to proceed at a comfortable pace that produces highly desirable results. The WIN/WIN Association Credit Union will emerge upon attaining 500 members (one of the legal requirements for forming a credit union) and provide financial services to association members that will be much more satisfying and empowering than traditional relationships with financial institutions. WIN will aggressively pursue the possibility of creating an entity that will allow WIN/WIN Association to essentially self insure members for their insurance needs. If it is at all possible to accomplish such a task, we will find a way to get it done. An extensive trade and barter network will emerge as the WIN concept matures. It will provide an ever broadening opportunity to acquire and market and/or exchange products and services to association members (and the public), with a focus on satisfying basic human needs and generating “true wealth.” One of the major goals of WIN is to be a catalyst to begin a serious grass roots movement to create the awareness/impetus to reform the major systems that are (or should be) intended to serve humanity. The major systems are: Economics; education; government; and religion. Without inspired leadership and “newforming” of these systems, having humanity realize its option for success is merely a pipe dream. To accomplish such an ambitious objective will take some equally inspired leadership as well as dynamic programs and strategies, but the most important ingredient is a massive education program. For WIN this starts (as already mentioned) with the PAL book and workshop and continues with them as well as with involvement with the plethora of opportunities and strategies originating with and supported by WIN. A WIN entity (as yet to be named) will create a program of communicating through emails and specific NET meetings to inspire action to support important reform issues. Letters to the editor, contacts with elected officials, at all levels of government, and vehicles to engage the public in important issues, will be designed into strategies to inform/educate/encourage support/realization of humanities’ extraordinary option for success, through the effective design, or redesign, of all aspects of society. We are talking of reform that includes everybody benefiting, there will be no losers (excepting those things that do not work so well—true WIN/WIN results. Therefore, when properly designed, communicated, and actualized, resistance should prove to be minimal. Extensive and synergetic networking is also at the heart of WIN’s orientation to accurate information. Many wonderful organizations are doing very effective work in certain areas and WIN will continually endeavor to bring information and organizations together, collaborating synergetically to optimize our inclination to express our comprehensive nature. a BRIEF OVERVIEW of HOW WIN FEELS IT WILL be WHEN WE HAVE MASTERED PRINCIPLE ALIGNED LIVING As Principle Aligned Living is enthusiastically embraced, the nature of human activity takes on a new and inspired complexion. When we have adopted and proceeded to actualize the new paradigms listed in a previous section, life on board Spaceship Earth is going to be something truly wonderful to experience. We will see that when our focus is on living consistent with the integrity of the universe, societies’ undesirable elements practically eliminate themselves and life takes on a simple elegance. Our current system essentially narrows the goal of human activity to private wealth accumulation, centralizes control, and globalizes the economy. PAL involves a refocusing of the goals of human activity on caring about each other and meeting human needs together with decentralization and localization of society. Following are highlights of how this might look with some specifics in a general category and in each category which WIN has targeted for reform(new-forming)/redesign, with a relevant lead-in quote from Bucky for each category. GENERAL • Ownership will become cumbersome, seen to have not integrity. Access and use will replace any concern of ownership. • Resources will be seen as universal, to be shared by, accessible to, and to benefit all humanity. • Simple elegance will replace indulgence in purely esthetic considerations. • We will throw away nothing. Everything we produce will be designed to last with all components being reused or recycled during every step of production and consumption. • Inclination for investing and savings are absent since they are paradigm based on fear of not having enough or of “falling through the cracks.” As we orient to abundance and become conscientious stewards of Spaceship Earth’s resources, such fears will be replaced with fulfillment and security as we manage resources for the benefit and access of all humanity. • Retirement will also go by the wayside. It is a clue that nowhere else in nature do we see retirement—only natural cycles of living things. Age and maturity bring a wealth of experience that is an extraordinary resource to be cherished and utilized. One may not have the same strength, suppleness, energy, etc, but all can remain productive participants/contributors to society, in a world that works for us all. • Automobiles will be available when and where we need them, similar to the current manner in which we rent cars when on vacation or on business trips. Public transportation will be enthusiastically used because it will be convenient, efficient, comfortable, and absent any stigma. • Since we are no longer tied to jobs we will be much more mobile, free to travel and go where help is needed, and doing so wherever we are. We will have little interest in a permanent residence because of our freedom to go anywhere, so when we have a desire to stay put someplace, we will be able to choose from classes of homes that are available so that everyone gets to enjoy a luxurious home for a time and more spartan homes for another time—no privilege. Other than our clothing and personal effects, we will have little need for “stuff” because wherever we stay will be equipped with all the necessities, similarly to well appointed hotels that we are probably familiar with. • When we have energy “right” (abundant, renewable, essentially free, and used solely to generate true wealth), we will use energy indiscriminately to make thing work for everyone without fear of running out. It will be like how we feel about planting additional trees and vegetation—having no concern whatsoever that we are promoting the use of too much of the sun’s energy. • Efficiency in everything will increase because, in reality, we cannot afford not to optimize efficiency, nor will we tolerate it to be done in any other manner. • As we begin to realize that humans make no universal laws, we will naturally recognize that every one of them has always existed. We humans just get to use them and perhaps combine them in new or unique ways, without ownership or fear of using them up. In this regard, patents and copyrights are no longer a concern particularly because there is no economic advantage to be gained by scarcity or ownership. Ideas, creativity, and inventions are just available to be shared with as wide an “audience” as is possible. • Self esteem is high because we are doing what we are intended to do and have the equipment to do. We are not afraid of not having enough or falling through the cracks so aberrant behavior is rare and more easily corrected. • Healthy water and air is available to 100% of humanity. • Global population stabilizes as birth rates decline since economic growth is no longer a working paradigm and more children is not equated with any sort of better quality of life or increased chance of survival. • Being well and healthy is the natural condition. Eating and living with wisdom and positive expectation reduces stress and ailments are increasingly recognized as occurring less frequently with better mental/spiritual health/outlooks.
ECONOMICS • “Cosmic accounting” whereby humanity knows its inventory and location of resources, means that resources will be intelligently allocated and available for all the things humans need to do to assure that humanities’ option for success is realized, not to be squandered or exploited for indulgences. • Bucky’s extensive research at Southern Illinois University, in the 1970s, revealed that in the range of 60 to 80% of the jobs that humans do (in our culture), do not create any true wealth (defined as anything that supports, protects, sustains, or respects life). When we are only engaging in those activities that have “cosmic integrity” we will never have to earn the right to live again and a whole lot of time and resources will be freed up for caring for each other, for solving humanities’ pressing problems, and for actively designing/redesigning anything that warrants it. • Activities like farming, industrial production, etc., now organized as “work”, would be voluntarily, collectively organized, face-to-face, within local communities when practical, and within new paradigm for larger scale manufacturing like automobiles, manufactures of which would be very few in number, with spare/replacement parts being universal. Our food won’t have toxic pesticides or herbicides on it. • All work needing to be done will be listed on the computer and we will all be able (and eager) to choose what we would like to do, assuring that what needs to be done will get done. A few hours a day for each of us will do it ant the rest of the time can be spent helping others and in creating better, more efficient designs to do what we need to do. • All manufacturing will be done to optimize resources, from packaging to durability to ease of repair, since the manufacturer will be responsible for every product made for its entire life cycle, including reclaiming it when its useful life has been expended and reusing/recycling all components. •Since everyone has enough, monotonous, repetitive, drudgery, demeaning jobs will be done by computers/robots with no resistance from labor unions which have become extinct since working for a living has vanished and exploitation is history. • Money will disappear as computers and local communities will make appropriate decisions about resource allocation with no bias, privilege, improprieties. A medium of exchange is no longer necessary. • Competition will no longer be an issue nor will long hours and dangerous, unhealthy practices. We will cooperate to make and do everything at the highest level of integrity. This will allow our innate desire to be competent and make a contribution to fully blossom. Being lazy is learned and incompetence will disappear when we cease to try to do what we are not prepared/trained/suited to do and we will naturally gravitate toward expressing our unique individuality. Status or hierarchy will not be a judgment related to the activity being done. We will produce for use rather than for accumulation, which will require far less in natural resour4ces, less damage to the environment, and less time. This promotes harmony with the environment—there is less pollution and less cultivation, using less land so animals and plants are wild and free. The water in our rivers, streams, and lakes would be clear, clean, and drinkable. People would be free to sleep when they are tired, eat when they are hungry, just like other species in nature. • Supply and demand ceases to be a consideration because we are only using what we need and we have abundant resources and technology to produce what we need. • Service economy jobs like cooks, nurses, waiters/waitresses, etc. will wither away as food preparation, care for the sick, and other “personal services” are incorporated into the daily life of the community as a whole, each individual taking a hand in a cooperative effort to care for other members of the community. There will be no sharply defined roles like consumer/producer, designer/builder, manager/worker because everyone could be doing various parts at different times. • When we cease to do all the non-wealth producing jobs, all of the office/plant space devoted to those non-wealth producing activities will become available for a different purpose, essentially eliminating any concern of a housing shortage. • Energy is abundant. Virtually all energy comes from the sun and it is always available and we use a minuscule amount of the energy available to Spaceship Earth. When we harness it adequately (which most everyone knows we have current technology to do), we will enthusiastically us it for universally improving the quality of life. Since monetary cost will be a thing of the past, we will do what we need to do and design tools/artifacts to efficiently get the job done. This would include things like desalinization (a proven technology) to provide us all the water we need, deliverable to where it is needed.
EDUCATION • Knowledge can only increase. From every experience we learn something, we can never learn less. • Humans do not have specialized equipment to become specialists, we have brains and minds that suit us to be generalists. Therefore, rather than centralized schools with specialized teachers, educating children would be a common daily responsibility of the whole community, allowing everyone to teach a little about the things they know, in a harmonious blend with their other daily activities. • Much learning will be through the computer/internet/videos/DVDs from the experts in their field that really know what they are talking about, not learning from a teacher who may not know the subject so well. • Students will be encouraged to make mistakes. Essentially all nature learns from trial and error, so the more errors students make, them more they will learn, when they are not punished for making mistakes. This will unleash the natural, innate curiosity present in all of us and not repress exploration and question asking.
GOVERNMENT • National boundaries cease to exist and politics is passé. Power and control have no advantage since personal sense and selfishness have yielded to the common good. • People affected by a decision would get to make it democratically, directly, and at a local level. • There is no specialized police, courts, or prisons—anti-social or violent individuals are handled by the whole community. Local decision making encourages protection of the local environment because people will live there and care more about the safety of their community.
RELIGION“ • As we become increasingly secure in the nature of our humanity and the nature of our inherent relationship to each other and the universe, combined with communities’ ministering to themselves, the potential role of religion is significantly diminished. • Historically, religions have offered some sense of comfort and/or explanation for the suffering, misery, and hardness experienced in life. As these elements are replaced by Principle Aligned Living, it can be like getting a new lease on life, while gaining control over inaccurate perceptions or misconceptions about the extraordinary option for success that life actually presents. • All religions contain truths that are essentially common to some other religions, or else they would not be truths, but beliefs. Some include more of them or different combinations of them than others. Anything that does not measure up to these principles/laws/truths must be classifies as a belief and viewed as such. Beliefs are precarious points on which to anchor while principles/laws/truths are rock solid and reliable, again, never failing or contradicting each other. • Culture remains a valued expression of our unique individuality as long as it is an expression of and does not violate any aspects of universal principles/laws/truths or the operational integrity of the universe. Living in the current industrial/consumer society, it is easy to scoff at the above vision by imagining a person socialized under the current competitive, selfish culture, unable to function within a cooperative, free society. But such a person is the creation of our society and our culture, the same a dioxin, genetic engineering, clear cut logging, the electric chair, SUVs, sweatshops, television. It may take a significant effort to get beyond this conditioning, but because we know humanity has this incredible option for success, we essentially have no other choice but to try to exercise this option. So, what can one do with this information? A good start might be to integrate it, bit by bit, into every aspect of one’s life and begin to enjoy the peace, fulfillment, and security that Principle Aligned Living has to offer.
